Our MISSION
This Council exists to help the people of Vashon-Maury Island address Island issues. The Council operates as a participatory, non-partisan forum, sometimes called “town meeting”. It aims to represent the interests of the Vashon-Maury Island community to King County and other government and non-governmental organizations in lieu of a municipal government.
COUNCIL HISTORY
The name of the street you live on is, in part, thanks to the Community Council! Local bus service, ferry dock repairs, cessation of illegal developments as well as the current Town Plan and many other Island needs and concerns that involved interaction with governmental officials have been the focus of the Community Council since 1933, with a break from 2001 until 2020. This public forum has always encouraged all voices to be heard and considered.

Join the Community Council

Membership in the Vashon-Maury Community Council is open to all residents (full or part time) 18 years and older. Membership is free. Please become a voting member of the Council, so the community has a stronger voice when we wish to send a message to King County, Puget Sound Energy, our state legislature, and others. The more voting members we have, the stronger our voice. Please complete the form to join the council. We will add you to both the membership list AND the mailing list.
